Clark/Division Station Renovation

medium_buildinganewchicago

A major renovation to the Clark/Division station is underway!

Announced in January 2012, by the CTA and the City of Chicago’s Department of Transportation (CDOT), the project includes modernizing and upgrading the existing stationhouse’s platform, station interiors and mezzanine and a new mezzanine at LaSalle .

The LaSalle entrance (at LaSalle/Division) is the first new mezzanine on the Red Line subway since it (along with this station) opened in 1943. This project is the first major renovation of the station since it opened.

June 2014 project update

On June 30, 2014, the new entrance from LaSalle Blvd opened to the public at the Clark/Division subway station. The new 8000-foot mezzanine entrance is equipped two elevators—one between the entrance and the mezzanine and another connecting the mezzanine to the platform (see accessibility alert referenced below).

While work moves to modernizing the original 1940s mezzanine entrance at Clark and other parts of the platform, riders will now use the LaSalle entrance to access the station. The Clark entrance is temporarily closed while CDOT rebuilds the original 1940’s mezzanine and platform through the middle of 2015.
